What Is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage is a therapeutic approach that targets damaged, tense, or immobile muscles. By assessing and treating the underlying causes of discomfort, our therapists aim to restore normal function and alleviate pain. Techniques may include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and stretching exercises.
Benefits of Remedial Massage
Pain Relief: Effective in treating conditions such as back pain, sciatica, and sports injuries.
Improved Mobility: Enhances joint flexibility and muscle function.
Stress Reduction: Promotes relaxation and mental clarity.
Enhanced Circulation: Stimulates blood flow, aiding in toxin removal and tissue repair.
Important Considerations Before Your Massage at Excelsius Wellness
To ensure your safety and enhance the benefits of your massage, please be aware of the following health considerations. In some cases, massage may be inappropriate or require modifications:
Fever or Acute Infections: If you’re currently experiencing a fever or infection, massage may worsen symptoms and potentially spread the illness.
Blood Clotting Disorders (e.g., Hemophilia): Massage can increase the risk of internal bleeding in individuals with impaired blood clotting.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Massage is not recommended over areas affected by blood clots, as it may increase the risk of dislodging the clot.
Contagious Skin Conditions: Conditions such as impetigo, scabies, or lice can be transmitted through skin contact, making massage unsuitable until resolved.
Recent Surgery or Fractures: Avoid massage over healing surgical sites or fractures until fully recovered and cleared by your healthcare provider.
Medication Interactions: Certain medications, particularly those that thin the blood, can increase the risk of bruising or alter the body’s response to massage.
Cancer or Metastasis: If you are undergoing cancer treatment, massage should only be performed with approval from your oncologist or healthcare team.
Heart Conditions: Clients with cardiovascular issues should consult with a medical professional before booking, as massage may affect blood pressure and heart rate.
